Super photo!....Mr. Rossi was a Master Photographer!....so does 'Tiger' play the banjo??

BOB KARM

Yeah, about the banjo, Was Tiger Tom just holding it for Addie? As I recall, he only played the comb!

Tom Murphy

Hello Plog and Bob:
Regarding the banjo. I got caught up in the folk music craze in 1962 and decided I would like to learn to play the banjo. I bought the banjo and a book, "How To Play The Banjo." On the first page it said, "Tune the banjo to A." Not having a clue how to do that, I closed the book and gave up my dream of joining Dave Guard and John Stewart among the ranks of accomplished banjo players (banjoists?) Of course I could have taken lessons but that seemed like way too much work. For some reason, that over time I have forgotten, I brought the banjo on the show with Addie. Later I gave it to a kid in a local folk group.

BOB KARM

Thanks for the response Tom! Have a great one, looking forward to hearing you on the new KISN!

Bob with a capital B

Smart move Tom. It is well known that the least uttered phrase backstage is, "That's the banjo players Porche." Radio treated you much better.

Plog

Thanks Tiger Tom for taking the time to respond! At least you 'jumped ahead" of the 'A' to other letters and became a Great 'DJ' on the radio!! Only 14 more days and we'll all get to hear your Goodguy voice again on KISN!! Can hardly wait!

Is that...WeirdBeard?!

@ Bob w/a capital B:

Two words, one name: Steve Martin.

(A "banjoist" who didn't drive a Porsche, but at one point drove a 1960s-era Ferrari.)

Tom Murphy

Yes, that is Weird Beard who was "played" by Jeff Thomas. Jeff was also the original Ralph The Robot on Dr. Zoom.
T.T.

Craig Addams

This picture would have been taken in 1963 and the KPTV show was called "Cartoon Castle."

Tom Murphy

Craig;
You are probably correct about the picture being taken in 1963, probably in early '63.
I still think I bought that damn banjo in '62.

Greg Berry

Tom Murphy;
How would one contact Jeff Thomas these days?
Thanks for any help,
Greg

It is my honor and privileged to found and read your post. It made me learn a lot of different ideas. Keep up the good work.
