In 1992 Redd was making a comeback with Della Reese on the series "The Royal Family" which was produced by Eddie Murphy. It was ironic that Redd who was famous for faking heart attacks had one during the filming of Royal Family. He died later in the hospital. Redd's real name was John Sanford and he took the name of his real brother Fred Sanford on the hit series series Sanford & Son.
