Dang, we used to wear some weird clothing. If you wore that suit and wide tie out in public today, the men with the butterfly nets would be chasing you.

I walked into his shop one day wearing a fairly loud hound's tooth overcoat that I had bought in Canada.
He asked me how much I paid and when I told him he said "You weren't cheated!"

I was a customer for many years. Max was an expert in good quality threads. Everyone looked like a movie star when trying on suits. And you would also hear, "No no no, disaster, take it off please"
down the street, Jack & Adam at The Golden Beau were also top merchants in their day.

Loved Max and the beautiful assistants he had working for him. I can remember every foot of that store. Thanks for this post.

Had a custom made white shirt with a tall Edwardian collar and french cuffs made there once. Loved that shirt, the only dress shirt I had for years.

Max had a girl that was up for miss something. She was stunning. Max couldn't write english, always had one of the gals do the transaction

Just took the photo a couple years ago, eh? I believe you and i are very close in age, i recall those suits too well!
