Go into Dave's on Yamhill St!... Go out of the Harvester on 5th Ave! (Doubles for a dollar!). Those were some of Portland's good ol' days! I believe the Yamhill Market was right across the street too.

My best memory is when somebody got to the counter and hadn't quite decided what he/she would order... "c'mon, c'mon, I don't have all day!"
That and the great "half and half" - hot corned beef and hot pastrami on an onion roll. Nothing else. Meat and bread.

Is Dave the most common name on the planet?

I so loved this place. DR.Browns soda and a sandwich you could barely get your cake hole around. The smells! Comfort and character! A real, honest place. Remember, they tried to move the business into the new court house building and it just didn't work. Anyone know what happened to the family that ran Dave's?
