Why oh why was this beauty torn down? Could it be the Seaside version of tearing down the Portland Hotel? When was it razed? It's so stately! What a tragedy!

At the time the Seasider was torn down by Shilo, the building was closed by the city. It was in disrepair with birds living in the rooms, rodents etc. Shame it couldn't be saved and I know that Hemstreet looked at doing that over the choice of a new building. It was too far gone by absentee ownership and left to rot.

The funny thing is, people wouldn't stay in a hotel with the facilities of the Hotel Portland -- and probably the Seaside Hotel -- if they existed today. Time passes. You ever hear of the Internet? Times change.
