PRESIDENT EISENHOWER AND HIS DEALINGS WITH NIXON

This new book by Jim Newton is a real eye opener. There was no love between Nixon & Eisenhower. The book begins with Ike's election, his health problems in the White House and what our nation was like in the heart of post war times. Newton spends quite a bit of time on Nixon getting dumped from the re-election ticket. Eisenhower's staff thought Nixon was too young and carried baggage wherever he went. Eisenhower kept Tricky Dick hanging for almost a year to get the word that The President would keep him on the ticket. Eisenhower had a very interesting eight years in office. Everyone on Eisenhower's cabinet wanted Nixon dumped from the ticket. Eisenhower had a 65% approval rating going into the election, but there were fears if The President's health would ride out four more years.

Candice Millard will win many awards for this fascinating book about the times of President James Garfield, what life was like in America at the time and his deranged murderer. Millard's style of writing puts you there in 1880. After reading this book, you will admire Garfield who was a great man and could have done dynamic things as President. This book is a slam dunk winner and impossible to put down.

FDR'S FUNERAL TRAIN

What a fantastic book! If I already reviewed this, pardon me! This book deserves a double plug if that is the case. Sixty years after FDR's passing we learn what really happened at the moment he had his fatal stroke and the exchange of power to Harry Truman. The drama of the happenings on the funeral train and The Roosevelt families return to The White House. I could not put this book by Robert Klara down.

MEGA BOOK SELLER ARRIVING NOVEMBER 12

Walter Issacson is a great writer. He penned the bios of Benjamin Franklin and Henry Kissinger. Steve Jobs trusted him to create his biography of his amazing life. The buyers at Powell's Books are trying to get as many copies as they can, knowing this will be the biggest seller of the decade. The book's title is "ISteve: The Book of Jobs" and will explain how Steve did the impossible. Issacson had full access to Jobs right down to his final days. This will be a big look into a very private mans life from start to finish.
