Formed in Jacksonville, Florida in 1965 the group was led by lead singer Dennis Yost. Traces became the groups final Top 10 hit. The act's next single "Everyday With You Girl climbed to #19. The song "Dizzy" by Tommy Roe kept "Traces" from reaching the top of the charts.
The Teddy Bears "To Know him is to love him" kept The Everly Brothers from chart topping this song "Problems. The year was 1958. This song's title was the hex for these two brothers. They argued for more money from their label, Don's wife filed for divorce and their creativity edge stalled. Warner Brothers offered them a one million dollar deal in 1959 and things started turning around.
Save Your Heart For Me debuted at #80 on Billboard in 1965 and in eight weeks became Gary's second straight #2 single. The song that held at #1 and kept Gary Lewis and his Playboys from the top of the chart was "I got you Babe" by Sonny & Cher. In late 1966 Lewis received his draft notice and the Playboys were split. When he returned, rock had a different edge with Hendrix, Joplin and Led Zeppelin as the craze. He have that a try but it was a bust. He was a thing of the past. Today Gary puts on a great show singing all of his great hits.
