On network television, Dick Clark presented not one but two gold records to Gretchen, Gary & Barbara, three teenagers from Olympia Washington. Those two keepsakes today hang in Paul Allen's "Music Experience" in Seattle. In 1959 "Come Softly To Me" ramped right to #1 and became a sensation. The record to date has been played over 3 million times on the radio (Cited my B.M.I.)
Today the Fleetwoods remain in history as the first trio to have two #1 records topping the Billboard charts during the same year. Over the years the trio had 11 big hit singles, 15 albums and 6 CD's. Today the founder of the trio, Gretchen Christopher along with two new members performs around the world.
The Fleetwoods....Three kids that made it big from the capital city.
They were just on PBS this year doing a Fabulous Fifty's show for pledges. They still sound terrific!
