I remember it. I remember going to Standard Appliance with my folks to buy a "Hi-Fi". When they delivered it, I remember Mom listening to KGMG, which became KXL-FM a short time later.

K-Good-Music-Gresham? Just a wild guess... Sacramento had KGMS which really did mean "Good Music Sacramento."

The only info I found mentioned the fact that 95.5 was KXL-FM from 1959 to 1999.

Stoner, As I recall KGMG was operated by International Good Music Inc., the classical programming suppliers and automation equipment company in Bellingham. Seems as though IGM operated 95.5 just after Rogan Jones' outfit, Multiplex Inc., gave the freq. a try. I'll bet Craig Adams knows for sure.

Craig certainly would have the date of conversion from KGMG to KXL-FM. My family bought a used Webcor stereo system, but put one of the big speakers in the basement! (Ran the wire through the laundry chute.)

Still, I remember hearing KGMG for a little while. It was playing a Beautiful Music format before KXL bought it. My mom really enjoyed the station.

As I recall (but might be erroneous), KGMG was one of only two FM stations that broadcast in stereo at the time... The other was KPFM.
