The one & only Gracie Hansen was a local star at the Barbary Coast in the Hoyt. The photo above is a rare shot of Gracie & cast in the Roaring 20's Showroom. The Hoyt had it all with full hotel service, restaurants, bars, showroom and even KLIQ radio in a fish bowl located as you walked into the lobby. Harvey Dick was the owner and he knew how to entertain a guest. Harvey was also famous for loaning his old school train to the Petticoat Junction TV Show.
I remember in high school, we were able to attend a late night Gracie Hansen performance. The thing I remember most was using the urinal in the men's restroom - If you aimed just right, the little statue's eyes would light up!

I was in the chorus line there in 1965 or thereabouts. Fun days to remember. Gordon Maafouris was the choreographer and then Rene De Haven. Johnny Reitz had the band, and there was a trio with Stan Choate (my husband of 44 years now), Carl Manning and Dean Gordonaire (sp?)
