Economic Downturn Shutters Kiggins Theatre

The curtains will close inside the Kiggins Theatre in downtown Vancouver for the last time Monday.

Last week, workers posted a plea for support on the marquee but were unable to raise the $4,000 needed to remain open.

Monday is the last day to see a flick at the theater, according to its website. A farewell celebration and $1 movies are planned.

The theater opened in 1936 and showed films after their initial release at a reduced cost.

 I don't know what it is about Doctors who advertise, but I get a kick out of them! On a trip I always check the yellow pages under Attorneys and Doctors because there will always be a good one! I especially like the flim-flam attorneys who advertise that they will get a big settlement for dog bites! Those are the greatest.

I DID NOT FEEL THE LOVE!

 My favorite coffee hangout was closed today (Blue Moon in Mercantile right off Boones Ferry Rd)...so I pulled in to this small independently owned coffee shop. The staff was very friendly, so there is no issue in that department..However..if they want to survive the quality of the coffee has to be on top of the game. The brew served here is just a tad better than a generic cup at a Denny's or Elmers. I asked them to over heat the bagel, it came out baby luke warm. This location went bust being a coffee shop before these new owners signed off on the lease, NOW is the time to fix the brand. Parking is a struggle at this location which makes it even more critical that the coffee is superior. If they let this slide, they are gone in 120 days. At this moment, there is not much to love about "Java Love" on Boones Ferry Rd in Lake Grove
