Phil Stanford presented me with an advance copy of his new non-pulp fiction titled "The Peyton-Allan Files" which is a story that will just keep the pages turning late at night. For Stumptown locals it is a must read book because it all takes place here. Fifty years ago two young lovers were making out up in the Skyline area and all hell broke loose with a killer who stabbed the boy and took the girl! The cops were very sketchy during this time in Portland and the city demanded results. A double murder fifty years ago in this town had every family talking, including ours. Phil has written one fantastic book here. I would love to report more of what goes down, but there are so many twists, turns and mind blowing surprises, it would ruin your read. The book will be available Monday at Powell's Book Store. Phil really painted a vivid picture of what Portland life was like in 1960.
I was 14 years old in 1960. it was big news for months. Des Conall was a young D.A that fouled the case up.

Thanks for the heads up on this story Mr Stump. I already picked up my copy this afternoon at Powells. I was 12 years old when this crime occured and the city that Phil Stanford
describes is so very familiar.

Phil reported at the Oregonian and was a columnist for the Tribune. His first book, Portland Confidential was a great one. I will get this as well.
