These two were a hoot making headlines when the mountain was still sputtering. The followers arrived in droves and the big guy flew in on his jet and drove around in one of nintey Rolls- Royces! The Bhagwan wore a rare Rolex crusted in diamonds (the only other that existed was worn by boxing promoter Don King) and Sheela was making trips to Beaverton shopping at Helens Of Course where she would become the best client in the store buying $500 Escada sweaters by the Rolls/load! The compound was on a 100 square mile ranch east of Madras where they incorporated a city to get around Oregon's strict land use laws. Their city was called "Rajineeshpuram" complete with hotel, airport and yes a casino! In 1983 Attorney General Dave Frohnmayer sued to dissolve the city. It was a court battle and they finally split Oregon.
The Bhag and Sheela left town but most of the disciples stayed, went from pink to green, took over the Oregon Democratic Party and continue to this day with their lunacy.

One of my best customers in the early '80's...sold business forms (All the checks were drawn the Bank of Greece - Chicago, IL branch)..had 5 companies..They would call up and pay Next day Air..Had delivered to a warehouse in SW Portland, then they would transport on their daily flights out of Hillsboro to the ranch (Rajineeshpuram)....
Once attended a big party for followers and Vendors in their Hotel in SW Portland they owned.. I remember the photo's of the ranch and their leader.. This was about the time of The Dalles alleged food sickness rumours (Not proven yet) Had great food. My Salesmanager refused to touch their food for fear of sickness...
As much as I hate to say it, they should have been shut down earlier. Dangerous people...

Not only did they go from pink to green, they still know how to "get out" the vote.
Posted by: trailertrash | October 31, 2010 at 11:46 AM
If you think the DUMBocRATs know how to get out the vote...you aren't paying attention to the news. Even the liberal main stream press has been forced to admit that Tuesday looks bad.
Hell, the folks at "Jurnolist" would be hard pressed to sugar coat the drubbing the socialist DUMBocRATs are going to get.
If you haven't sent in your ballot yet, remember, you have to hand deliver it to the ballot drop-off site. Don't forget to vote against the DUMBocRATs. You may have to mark your ballot for Republicans but you're truly voting against the DUMBocRATs.

Joel, you seem to be very angry. Perhaps a review of your meds or your alcohol consumption may be in order.
My goodness gracious!
Breathe deeply, sir.

Or maybe Steve you're taking too many meds.
I do take meds, for diabetes. My doctor reviews them quarterly. I don't drink. If you're suggesting I need to start, that wouldn't be a good idea. The booze would interact poorly with some of my medications.
Point out the anger,if you would. I see nothing but truth in my post.

didn't work because their socialism forced all members to be productive - as socialism always does at the end game.
what dumbocrats don't realize that by forcing more and more of us to into socialism we lose our incentives.
soon enough, they'll have what they wished for - but nobody will be willing to pay the bill.
free health care is of no value if nobody can get it.

Back to the subject of this thread -- sorta: Anyone remember the Z-100 Morning Zoo's sendup of Tommy Roe's "Sheila" titled "Shut Up Sheela"? I still have that 45 in its original sleeve, carefully stashed away. Came out November 12, 1984.
