Remember getting Traveler's Cheques before leaving on vacation? It was part of our fabric growing up. I can't remember when the last time I used these but American Express is still the largest issuer. They were not the first to roll out Traveler's Cheques, it was The London Credit Exchange in 1772 who sold them in European countries. American Express sold their first book of cheques in 1891.
I worked with Karl Malden in 17 episodes of Streets of San Francisco. At lunchtime, he would dutifully remove that small tuft of hair from his head and place it beside him as if it were a hat. What a wonderful gentleman he was!
