Geraldine Doyle passed away at age 86. She was a 17 year old metal stamping machine operator from Ann Arbor Michigan. In 1942 a UPI photographer snapped a picture that became the inspiration for the most famous poster during the war. The biceps being flexed were the imagination of the artist.

VAL KILMER OWES 500K IN BACK TAXES

 
One of the nicest guys in the movie biz owes back taxes and is trying to sell off his property in New Mexico before the evil banksters grab it. Wishing Kilmer the best. A great actor that has not been seen on the silver screen in a while.

The Internal Revenue Service filed the lien last month in Santa Fe for an assessment balance of $498,165 for 2008 income taxes.

Kilmer has lived in New Mexico for two decades. He put his 5,300-acre Pecos River Ranch on the market for $33 million in 2009.

The ranch is now listed for sale at $18.5 million, down from $23 million in October.

IF A MAJOR TV NETWORK WANTS TO WIN IN THE NEWS DEPT...HIRE JACK CAFFERTY

Turn on ABC-CBS-NBC nightly news and it is all the same, just different talking heads. When I was growing up, we got the daily news roundup from Cronkite & Huntley & Brinkley. Today we all know the news stories hours before the talking heads air. Now take Jack Cafferty who is wasted on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. Cafferty is like a re-incarnation of Edward R. Murrow with his tough questions and harsh opinion's. Imagine one of the big three networks letting Cafferty loose with a new & improved out of the box news broadcast. They could create a retro looking news set and allow Cafferty to do what he does best, report- interview and comment. It would be a slam dunk hit. When Katie smiley face Couric gets her walking papers at CBS when the contract ends, Cafferty should be the new anchor with something we will want to watch. Network news is a total snooze.

DEATH PANEL SECRETS IN BLUMENAUER'S OFFICE

In yesterdays Wall Street Journal there was an eye opener story on Oregon's Earl Blumenauer. He was the author of the death panel rider and then lobbied Medicare to cover the service and later was stupid enough to send an email to supporters cheering this "Victory" but asked that they not tell anyone for fear of perpetuating "the death panel myth." The email added that "Thus far, it seems that no press or blogs have discovered it, but we will be keeping a close watch"...Well, this blogger finds this stuff very sneaky. Nobody can figure out what is really in the health care bill, I'm sure our fair haired-bow tie boy from Oregon has never read it or understands the mess as well. Who could?  But why be sneaky when it comes to killing granny & grandpa?
