Always loved that commercial. Wonder who that was singing?

That was one of the great stores we had in Stumptown. They carried books, stationary, office supplies and my favorite, Toys!

Got to find out who sang that...was a great commercial!

Wow. A blast from the past. It is amazing how many things I have forgotten about that I still remember. Does that make any sense? The power of the boob tube!

Billy Scream....great local jingle guy. That is him at the piano singing. We used his studio for local spot production. Billy, where are you?

Geez, I'd forgotten about J.K. Gill.

Wasn't that another story of an outsider coming in and taking over a local enterprise and ruining it? You know, like Farrell's Ice Cream or Meier and Frank.

Or Fred Meyer.

I always loved J.K. Gill stores. I could mess around for an hour looking at all the stationery, rubber stamps, fountain pens, legal forms, maps, etc. I used to frequent the Washington Square store when I was a kid. Its amazing to me how things have changed: stationary stores, bookstores, men's wear stores-- all gone.

Yup, I remember it. I found the youtube link before I found this link. Now I can add that it was Billy Scream. Now.. what sharp sleuth can tell us where the exact location was for the filming!

Bob, with a capital B, it looks like Billy Scream (real name, Gary Lamont Thompson) did a bunch of voice work throughout the years. Notable is he did very early work with Will Vinton, which puts him in Portland. This makes sense. It's at us.imdb.com I can't get any more details, but heck that ain't bad!
