In 1962 Doug Baker (Oregon Journal) ran a story in his column about screen star Jack Buetel marrying a Portland socialite, Joanne Crawford. Doug reported that the couple took off after the wedding to Tahiti. Buetel appeared in many motion pictures and fell in love with Portland. Buetel died in 1989 at age 72 and is buried in Portland Memorial Park.
