At Bridgeport the masses were lined up for another comedy that resembles "Hangover", shoot em up in the streets movies and I think a science fiction flick that received horrible reviews, and then there was "Barney's Version" with a handful of people that wanted to unload ten bucks to see a real motion picture with emotion, comedy and thought with Giamatti playing a man over the course of thirty years, three marriages and polluting the airwaves with a bad soap opera and did I mention he is the prime suspect in a murder? Dustin Hoffman has his best role in many years playing his father. The producers made a huge mistake rushing this film within a week to qualify for the Oscars. There was not enough time to earn traction for enough nominations. It received only one. Walking away from this movie, you will think, that was money worth spending at the movies. 5 Stars.
