KPOJ must have known the meaning but used it simply for sensationalism to get ad attention. Talk about a BAD idea!

Must of been headquartered at that infamous chicken joint on Sandy that long ago changed it's name and entrance.

Are you thinking of the old Eddie Mays' Prime Rib on 54th and Sandy? Used to be "Coon Chicken Inn" with a GIANT cartoon black face where you walked in through the wide open mouth?

that's the joint. never saw it. did go to the prime rib though. one thing a lot of places that fade away have in common - they don't do major maintenance and remodeling - and as a result the clientele sink down to lower and lower levels over time. other's sell out and new owners destroy the name (stanfords and newport classic recent examples). went to one newport bay a year or so ago, couldn't find anything i wanted on their "new" menu. left. a month later it was shuttered. used to go to stanfords every other week. after about a year's absence went yesterday. i'll never go back now.
btw - to both stanfords and newport bay, why can't you just make normal fish and chips - forget the BEER batter. just the thought is pungent. and the fake cheesy bread on the little slice is not the old cheesy bread.
