This TV clip shows a novelty group lip synching Louie Louie. In reality they were a great rock n roll band with one of the best lead singers in R&R history. The Raiders were right behind the Kingsmen recording Louie Louie in the same studio (Northwest Recorders)...The Kingsmen got the big hit, The Raiders got the long career. They were the most televised band during the sixties. The Raider version was crisper sounding and the best version of all. Roger was a DJ at Kisn Radio and was booking bands at D-Street, The Chase in Milwaukie, Headless Horsemen downtown, Pypo Club in Seaside among other venues around town. He managed The Raiders for their entire career and still works with Paul Revere to this day.

Damn, is that ever an understatement!
"The Raider version was crisper sounding and the best version of all."
The Raider version was sooooo much better than the Kingsmen...especially after Lynn Easton threw Jack Ely out and took over as the Kingsmen's lead singer.
It's too bad the Raiders started recording crap later in their career. Everything after "Just Like Me" sucked.

Indian Reservation was crap? Don't think so.

Kicks sucked? Good Thing sucked? Hungry sucked? The Great Airplane Strike sucked?...well OK, I might give you that one, but up through Revolution I think they had some TERRIFIC singles!

Pretty much everything the Raiders recorded after they started on "Where the Action Is" fit nicely into the bubble gum mold...especially "The Great Airplane Strike." I'd forgotten about that turkey.
