One of the most magnificent dining rooms in Portland is closing at the end of the year. The service is always 5 stars, but this old haunt got lost in the mist of the trendy new places that have opened. Sad for the staff, customers and visitors staying at the hotel.

I'm worried for the hotel above for every one of your reasons about the basement. I've stayed at every hotel on Broadway over the years and the Benson is becoming frayed. No refresh in 10-15 years? Geez.
Maybe after Westin left that was the beginning of indifference?
I'm at a loss for words.....
