Donald Cravens captured some of the 20th century's most historic events with his camera and went into the history books as a man who really made a difference. Cravens, 91 recently passed away in Rancho Mirage, California. Cravens captured the Allied Forces Normandy invasion, The Nuremberg Trials of Nazi war criminals, The Montgomery Bus Project, Elvis Presley's first recording session in 1956, his induction into the Army in 1958 and his stint in Germany through 1960. He shot the photos seen around the world of the Elvis concert from Hawaii. Cravens was on the "A" list for Life Magazine in the photo division for many years and later in life became involved in real estate. Cravens and his wife gave a $3.5 million dollar gift to The College of The Desert, the single largest gift ever to the community school.
