The colonel did some good. At first - making all the arrangements for appearances and getting his image out and about. The colonel had Elvis' record and kept the music playing on the radio while he was in the army like he never was gone. He started the merchandising ball. But the colonel did deny him his artistic preferences -in movies. Imagine the lawsuit today. Elvis and his father did approach the Colonel to 'fire him'; make a change in management - but the colonel threatened them with lawsuits for all he said Elvis owed him. Vern Presley told his son that the colonel was serious and perhaps it was best to keep going with him. Two things Elvis needed most- good legal help and good medical help. But Elvis still lived materially very well in this life; in spite of this man's withholding. And his music and inspiration will carry on for a many long years yet to come.
