That the same guy that's been there pretty much of twenty years? Just wondering as the address looks about right.

Phil passed away a couple of years ago so his widow Becky is running the show. They also have great fresh deli sandwiches (no processed meat) and home made soups daily, not to mention a great wine selection. The shop's been there 35 years!

The chunks of meat look tasty but I never could handle BBQed veggies.

Phil Mosley & his brother "Big Dan" Mosley pretty much put Bento on the map in Portland, like Tony said, some 3 decades ago.
Phil, of course ran Phil's Uptown Meat Market and they both began char-broiling their chicken skewers with rice back when there weren't too many places to eat in NW Portland. Once you tasted their chicken Bentos, you were instantly hooked. There simply wasn't any better. Anywhere.
Brother Dan soon moved across the street and began providing tasty chicken Bentos also. Many times the lines in both joints looped out around the block. It was a sight to behold.
As noted, Phil passed recently but his spirit & staff live on. Rest in Peace Phil Mosley. You still remain a bright spot in Stumptown history.
I believe Dan is still kickin' out the skewers a couple miles North on NW Thurman. Although I haven't tried his new digs (Big Dan's West Coast Bento) yet, you know it's going to be good. Two Great brothers. Two wonderful men. . .
