I love the earlier Beatles. I remember when I was a pre-teen in the 1970's I was really into this era of the Beatles. Not so much with their later period but I liked some of it. I remember looking at the picture of them on the back cover of the Hey Jude record and they used to freak me out with the beards and long hair.
I still think that 'A Hard Day's Night' album is the quintessential Beatles from that period. I don't know what it is about that album, but for me it really is like a time capsule and the music really draws the listener back to 1964.
John Lennon said the three most personal songs he ever wrote were "Help," "Nowhere Man" and "I'm a Loser." Kind of ironic he felt that way but fame never brought him happiness.
I still love these guys..
