I miss the old Meier & Frank store in downtown Portland, especially the display windows at Christmas time. The store had such a nice feel to it when you walked in and were greeted by the sales clerks. What fun to ride on the elevators with the operator calling off the merchandise on the different floors. In the sixties it was quite the place to be, and look at all the old cars, each their own personality not like today's cars.
Mom made it an annual trip, with the next door neighbour and her girls, to go see the M&F windows.. I loved it!! Soo sad its no longer. Macys stinking parade is nothing, particulary when compared. Boo, Macys!!!
