Wasn't there a dance place associated with the Silver Skate? I seem to remember traveling to other side of town a couple of times for dances featuring big name acts, at least if you think of The Mojo Men and Music Machine as big names. They were at the time.
The place was called the Wreck of the Hesperas(sp). Saw Signe Anderson, late of the Jefferson Airplane there. She played with Carl Smith and the Natural Gas Co. after leaving San Francisco. Many other name bands too.
Wreck of the Hesperus was next to the lot for Silver Skate. The Silver Skate is now Winco, and Wreck used to be near the curb of the parking lot, SE corner.
