You know...I've NEVER had a straight-razor shave! My father once told me that it is one of the most pleasing experiences a man can have when it comes to personal care and that he should have at least ONE during his life! I'm almost 70 years old now and I have yet to have this "pleasing experience"! It is almost impossible nowadays to locate someone in the "tonsorial arts" who even knows how to give a good razor shave, complete with the hot towel treatment before and after, then ending with a head and face massage with cologne! If you do find a barber who will do it completely, they generally want around $35.to $50.! I've seen it go as high as $100.!!! Whatever happened to: "Shave and a haircut!...Two bits!"

I've had three shaves in my life, two with straight razors and the other (in the hospital) with a Gillette Twin Blade Disposable. One straight razor shave was done by a man, the other by a woman and the hospital shave was a female volunteer. I recommend getting your shaves done by a woman.
