You do have to wonder. LBJ, an out and out bigot and racist, likely would never have been president. The CRA of 1984 may not have been written to cover up the racism of the Southern Democrats.

And what would have happened in SE Asia? Would we have had the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution that somehow made the Vietnam Waar the right thing for the US to get involved in. Would we have had all of the lies about US involvement coming out of the Oval Office? Probably not.

Imagine what would have happened in 1968 after eight years of Camelot. Richard Nixon would likely have never happened, meaning no Watergate, meaning probably the disaster that was Jimmy Carter quite likely would have been a pass.

Lee Harvey Oswald did change history one fall afternoon in Dallas. It would be interesting to look at the timeline if JFK hadn't been assassinated.

I think you have a typo - the CRA was passed in 1964 not 1984.
