Is this what became BP John Furniture Co?
What is that tall building in the background?

The sign on the building in the background indicates that it is "Municipal Terminal No. 4" Grain elevator. Photos of the same building indicate it was completed in 1920, and had a capacity of 1 million bushels. The address was 11040 N Lombard, Portland, it appears to have been demolished.

Blogger took pic from the new Oregonian historic book. It states Macadam Ave

This picture quite clearly was not on Macadam. And looking at the ship, it would seem the picture was taken sometime long after 1915.

D. Gibson's current address comes up as "Kinder Morgan Bulk Materials" in St. Johns. Looks like the Germantown Road area in the Left background. I need more info to agree with the John's Landing/Willamette Park area.

From my earlier comment the address of 11040 N Lombard st. is the location of the Port of Portland Terminal #4. If you enter this address on Bing Maps, and then use the Birds Eye View feature, you can see that the tall concrete structure was still there when the photo was taken, and had not been demolished.

Information I found indicate Oregon Chair Company was incorporated in November 1906 by Arthur Kingsley. A five acre tract of land on Macadam st. was purchased with access to the Willamette River so logs could be floated from the forest to the sawmill at the factory. The location was 3 miles from the center of Portland. What that street address would be today I do not know.

Dave, congratulations for attracting a better brand of responders to your esoteric postings. Lance John or Chuckie not included in that category.
