This is a historic photo of the cheese factory. Here's the scoop on what's coming
TILLAMOOK, Ore. — If you haven't made the trip to Tillamook Cheese Factory's Visitor's Center yet, time is running out. The old visitors center will officially close its doors March 6 to make room for a brand new facility set to debut in 2018. It'll feature a new cafe, wood fire pizza (!), an ice cream counter, a coffee counter, a new retail area, an interactive research and development workplace and a small private event room.
In the meantime, a temporary visitor's center adjacent to the main factory will open on March 22.
According to the Tillamook County Pioneer, more than 1.3 million people visit the factory every year, and as many as 10,000 every day.
I remember the days when you walked on the factory floor for tours. Around a hundred years ago, when i was young.. the 60s..
