It was in 4th grade (which included the study of Oregon history) that we took the field trip to the Forestry Building. Only those kids who had joined the Oregon Green Guard -- a youth auxiliary of the "Keep Oregon Green" Association -- got to go. We actually had some kids who, for religious reasons, hadn't joined.
As part of the trip, we received our "Keep Oregon Green" buttons, our membership cards and our arm bands. Such a deal.
Condos are on the property once occupied by the Forestry Building. The Western Forestry Center across the parking lot from the zoo took over the museum function.
We could rebuild that again today if we used plastic logs with simulated wood overlays.
