Wore high top chucks for 2, 3 yr in high school, early 70s, loved em. Cheap, and 501 levis.. couple pair, few tees, kids good to go. If wed only known then..
It was said that "Red Ball Jets" did make you "run faster" and "jump higher" and those little red balls on the heels.....well they kept you from makin' sparks that could set your pants on fire cuz you ran sooooo fast!
I remember getting white high-tops in high school and then hand dying them hot pink ( 1979-80 )...seems like they were about 8 bucks...also buying Levi's 501's for 7 bucks at the U.S. Outdoor store on McLoughlin blvd in Oak Grove...good times!
1960. Grade school-6th grade. $4.50. Caplan`s. 52nd Street bus down, Sandy bus back home. Bus fare may have been .25cents.
