My mother was partial to Kienow's. We used to come into town to shop the 23rd and Burnside Kienow's every Friday evening. The Safeway, Big C or Luther's in Beaverton would have been closer, but mom liked Kienow's.
Remember how they'd put all of your food in cardboard boxes and they'd tie up the flaps with string from spools that hung from the ceiling.
For $20 we'd take home four boxes of groceries. Now for 20-bucks you get a small plastic bag with five or six items.
I wonder if this is the Kienows on 55th and Burnside and the business next to Kienows (with the awning) is the old Boyds Pet Store.

That’s the Oswego Kienows on First Street. June’s Fabrics is at the end of the building and you can see the old police department across A Avenue!
