No photo caused more emails to me than this one. I’m reposting this of Meier & Franks main floor downtown. Sad beyond words.

Times change. Meier & Frank felt it was best to sellout to Macy's and that decision is proving wise. What M&F did is no longer a good business model. Macy's is failing across the country.
Like it or don't, big department stores don't work anymore. People would rather buy online. Macy's, Sears and Penney's are all dying. You can go in one of their stores and be almost alone. It's just the way it is.
When I was a kid, the family would pile into the Dodge and head downtown and M&F was usually the first stop. I remember the crowds that used to gather at the front door waiting for the 9 am opening. I remember the ceremony that involved the unveiling of the Christmas windows every year and the multitude that would gather on the sidewalks to ooh and ahh.

But, that was yesterday and yesterday is gone.
