This tends to happen with virtually every Oregon senator. It happened with Morse, Packwood, and Hatfield. Morse was, of course, a maverick. Packwood and Hatfield had better leadership roles than Merkley.
I'll guess that Merkley has as much of a chance that anything happens as happened for his predecessors.
FF40 fan............ As the top Democrat on the Agriculture and Rural Development Subcommittee, Merkley helped write the portion of the massive 2018 spending bill funding the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The bill provides $94 million to be used by the FDA to step up its efforts to combat the opioid epidemic by investing in better identifying and targeting firms and organizations importing into the U.S.; increasing the staff inspecting packages and the number of packages being inspected; increasing criminal investigation resources; upgrading equipment to screen imported products; and upgrading a forensic laboratory to accommodate increased activity.
In addition, Merkley has successfully pushed for over $2.6 billion in increased funding for treatment, prevention and research programs within the Department of Health and Human Services to combat the opioid crisis.
Got reading skills? why do i have to do your homework so you wont be embarassed by your lazy assed questions? talk about stupid questions you are truly a dunce,
I had a lady from Vermont tell me there will never be a POTUS from Oregon. the pols from Oregon are Too Nice, and too boring, with their mythical "Oregon Mellowspeak." I still LMAO when I think about what she said.
While the Colbert story is a popular myth amongst Trumpanzees, there is no evidence that Colbert was about to be fired by CBS. Surely he has benefited because of Trump, but so have Fallon and Kimmel and SNL. Understandably, Trump is the focus of much humor.
If by Meghan you're referring to Meghan McCain, she was pretty well-known before Trump became a candidate, let alone before he was elected. She actually appeared at the 1996 GOP convention as a 12-year old. Her first real attention came in 2007 with her blog. She became a contributor to the Daily Beast in 2009 and to MSNBC in 2011.
What exactly has Merkely done in the Senate besides collect a paycheck?
