Wow! Superman trusted JFK with his secret identity. I didn't know that.

I vaguely recall this.. I was a Superman aficionado from wee childhood..

The story was planned to help promote the President's Council on physical fitness but hadn't been published yet when JFK was killed so DC shelved it. When LBJ was informed about it he asked DC to publish it as a tribute to President Kennedy.

Nope, that wasn't quite correct. The stuff about the physical fitness story is right but it wasn't the story where Superman revealed his secret identity to the President. That was a different story (Action Comics #309 if I recall correctly). Superman was being honored by a "This Is Your Life" type program and Lois Lane and Lana Lang were convinced that Clark Kent wouldn't show up, confirming their suspicions that he was Superman. Batman couldn't double for him because he was also a guest on the program. Lois and Lana were shocked when Clark Kent showed up. After the show was over we saw the scene where Superman thanked the President for impersonating him to protect his identity and made the statement about being able to trust the President with his secret.

Took awhile for my 64 year old brain to remember that there were two stories. Of course, these are 55 year old memories so I suppose I should cut myself some slack.
