When the Trash-80 hit the market, a friend scraped together the $800 ($3,453 today) to buy one. That was the most amazing thing ever, even though it took several minutes to download the most rudimentary program to play solitaire.

It spoke BASIC and you could actually write your own programs to do things like balancing your checkbook. Who cared that you could do the job the old way in half the time it took the cassette tape to load the program.

I mean, it was a real freaking computer.

Owned a TRS-80. Still own and use a dot matrix printer for certain applications.
