According to Trump, Jefferson was another communist/socialist Democrat who would turn America into another Venezuela.

Whether or not President Jefferson said it, I agree 1000%...first off, freedom of speech. Tyrant dick(less) tator.

How many slaves did Ol' Tommy own again??? Stump the Dump able to answer?

So, would you rather have a news media that does nothing other than praising the president and his administration, even when the president lies or engages in extreme hyperbole? Or would you rather have a media that calls the president out when he spews a raft of garbage, even if that means the media is almost constantly calling out the lying president?

I'm sure that Nixon would have been much happier had Woodward and Bernstein never existed. Or if the NY Times had never published the Pentagon Papers. Bill Clinton also had his problems with the media and not just about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

Harry Truman had quibbles with the media from the "Dewey Defeats Truman" newspaper headline on. Truman wrote, “Presidents and the members of their Cabinets and their staff members have been slandered and misrepresented since George Washington." Truman called the press "Prostitutes of the mind."

Wilson tried to use censorship and propaganda to control the press during WW1. It was the efforts of three Republican senators that stopped him.

Jefferson too had his problems with the press writing in private correspondence, "“Nothing can now be believed which is seen in a newspaper." Yet, like Trump, Jefferson had no problem using the press to make his points during his campaign against John Adams.

Jefferson also opined, “were it left to me to decide whether we should have a government without newspapers, or newspapers without a government, I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter.”
