Virginia Woof is a dog daycare center operated by Outside In. Somehow, I don't get how the clients of Outside In should be worried about a dog. Isn't job one supposed to be getting clean, getting off the dope?

Joel, I believe this is a place for the young folks to have a job, earn some money, and get experience so that when they are clean for a decent amount of time, they can get jobs elsewhere.

So Joel, what do you have against MAN'S/ADDICTS BEST FRIEND? It might be their singular support in the world of recovery

Maintaining a pet dog costs a small fortune. Even a small dog can cost $100 a month for food and medical services. Street people tend to have really large dogs. Feeding a dog scaps (or dumpster dining) isn't good for the dog's health. It's really unfair to the dog.

For people living on the street, where does the dog do its business? Oh, never mind, I know where people who live on the street do their business so the dog probably uses the same facilities.

All in all, if you can't afford to support yourself and need the assistance of the public or the willing, you can't afford a pet.

NOTE: If this place is what Jann says it is, that makes more sense.
