GE made some fine refrigerators back then. My folks bought a GE frig when they moved into their house in Cedar Mill in 1946. Around 1970, they decided they wanted a bigger freezer and bought a new frig which lasted around ten years and they replaced it with a frig that lasted another ten years and so on.

Meanwhile, the old GE was moved to a corner of the garage where it kept right on cooling things and it was still going strong when my mother sold the house in 2008.

Good looking unit. GE is still going strong, so they do make long lasting products.. Wish I could have gotten my hands on Joel's mom's old one..

Granted, GE manufactured great products across the spectrum, but for refrigeration, AMANA..
