The Grand Staircase was truly grand. This picture only shows a very small portion of the staircase. Does anyone know if even a part of the grand staircase still exists?
The Lewis and Clark Centennial and American Pacific Exposition and Oriental Fair was really quite the show, put on by the small town of Portland, population 120,000. One-and-a-half million people came to Portland from all over the world for the centennial of the Corps of Discovery.
Joel the staircase would not have survived, as this area has been NW Portland's industrial area for decades, but some of the buildings were moved such as the Mcmenamins location in St. John's
