never could get the hang of that thing.

I had hula hoops from the late 50s through these! These were fun.

My dad used to travel to one part or another of the northwest once a month to visit his customers. My brother and I always got a little toy he picked up on his trips. One month he brought us Hula Hoops. We thought we were supposed to roll them around the yard and chase them.

They were a brand new item then. We got the idea a few weeks later when the TV ads became ubiquitous.

We also got Frisbees before the ads hit. At least we understood what to do with them.
