I haven't a clue of why, but it used to be that to get from Beaverton to Portland, you took the grey dog and not the blue buses. The schedule was actually pretty regular as buses coming from the south or the coast would stop at Beaverton Pharmacy. You could also get buses going south or to the coast.

About once a month, my grandmother would put my brother and me on the bus and we'd go to the downtown Portland Greyhound depot. Then we'd walk three or four blocks to my mother's office. Could you imagine doing that with kids today, letting them loose downtown on the street?

Designed by Raymond Loewy.

Greyhound used to be comfortable, but I used to travel to Salem and back every two weeks, and if I missed the Amtrak bus home, I got stuck with Greyhound, and took two days to recover in bed or on the couch. Never again.Amtrak had old Trailways buses.. very comfortable.

Trailways buses were great.
