Bill’s physical handicaps never stopped him. He found a way to make a living and went door to door selling Watkins products. Every morning Bill would arrive downtown and have the shoe shine guys at Kelly’s Olympian on Washington tie his to start selling. William H. Macy won best actor for a TV movie along with six other Emmy’s. He did a spectacular job portraying Bill who died in 2013 at age 81. A real gem this man.
ABC News program 20/20 did a story on Bill Porter 2 decades ago. This approx. 14 minute story is on YouTube and is well worth watching if you have never seen it, or watching again about this humble and inspiring man.
