So very sad. I watched him every morning.

Why was he cut? I haven't heard anything in the news?

Dru KATU is one of the 130 stations owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group and they laid off 5 percent of their employees, which depending on the news story you read that would be between 460 & 550 people. They say the lay offs were due to "Profound Pandemic Impact"

KATU On OUR Side.. not for you! Or is it that the guy is over 40?

Wood was one of approximately 500 newsroom workers laid off at Sinclair stations across the country. Eight newsroom staffers were booted at KATU. Ironically, Wood was fired just hours before the speecial he rpoduced on Portland's homeless problem aired.

Sinclair is blaming Covid, the fallback excuse for everything these days. More likely, is Sinclair's dislike of local news people, much prefering that its stations air canned right-wing crap it produces and forces on its O&Os.
