In the late 60s, Carson teamed up with the Swanson family (think TV dinners and other frozen atrocities) to create Johnny's American Inn, Inc. to operate a chain of Here's Johnny's fast food stands. Featured were such things as the "Carnac" Burger and a fried checken dinner called the "Bird of Paradise."

While the company claimed around 300 franchises were sold, only about half-a-dozen of the restaurants ever opened. Apparently being a TV performer is no more a guarantee of being a successful fast food franchisor than it is of being a decent president.
