City council voted 3-1 to appoint Charles Jordan to fill the seat vacated when Lloyd Anderson left to join the Port of Portland. Charles Jordan was sworn in on March 13, 1974.

Who voted against him?

Seat on the left in this photo commissioner Connie McCready said voted against Jordan's appointment to protest the method Mayor Neil Goldschmidt used in securing the votes of commissioners Frank Ivanvie and Mildred Schwab. She called it an "arrogant, blatant, shameful" way of circumventing the open meeting law.
