I think I went into Strohecker's once, to get a pack of cigs back when I did such things. It was the most convenient place to stop when I needed to replenish my supply.

Other than that, I'd have had no need to go out of my way to shop at a grocery store. There were three of them a mile from where I lived and one of them was a Howard's.

Me too! My Mother loved to go to Strohecker's, she'd say let's go for a drive (we're from East of the river). Strohecker's was great, wonderful deli and service, always friendly, you felt welcomed there.

First time there was to pick up a (huge) turkey mom was gifted from work, and not being familiar with the area, was quite the scenic cruise. Im a North Portland kid, now in NE.. was a great shop!
