So, what happened on July 25, 1961, other than JFK had been president just over six months?

On that date JFK addressed the nation on the Berlin Crisis, and on his earlier meeting in Vienna with Soviet leader Nikita Khrushcev who had been trying to force the allied nations of Britian, France and the United States out of West Berlin. On August 13, 1961 people living in East Berlin awoke to find that barbed wired fencing divided the city, with the Berlin wall to follow.

We moved to Portland in Feb., 61, and bought our house in June of that year. 50 yr in that house, it isnt worth what they did to it. Good riddance.
